"Queenie, Queenie whose got the Ball"

"Queenie, Queenie whose got the ball, is she big or is she small?, see I haven't got it, see I haven't got it, see I haven't got it at all" is one of our new circle ball games. We sit in a circle and while our eyes are closed (no peeking) children take turns to place a ball behind someone's back. Then all eyes opened we sing "Queenie, Queenie...." and take turns to guess who has the ball behind their back (again without peeking). Playing this game regularlly the children have mastered it well and often request it to be played daily.  'Young children's increasingly complex social problem-solving skills are encouraged, for example through games, and they develop capacities and understanding about rules and social strategies are fostered through routines.
