In our community
On Thursday, Rie, Isaac, Tyra, Kian, Paige, Marley, Caelyn, Tamara and Taylah all walked through Onekawa Park on the way to our local shops in Onekawa. They found a birds nest and walked around dog poo on the footpath. The children ran on the grass and at the shops selected mandarins and kiwifruit from the fruit shop, to bring back to KIDSPACE.
" Children develop as many opportunities are provided for small group activities, such as going for a walk", Contribution, Te Whaariki.
It is important for children to interact and explore their local community for a sense of self and belonging, so they can gain information skills and a better understanding of themselves and their environment too.
