Stick insect
First it was slugs, moths and lady birds, next cockroaches (9 Sept 2009 blog 'Look a Cockroach' and comment from David at Hunter Park Kindergarten) and now it is stick insects.
Four year old Charlie displays his stick insect, tricking one teacher who thought Charlie brought in a box of sticks to KIDSPACE.
He explains to his friends about this insect and took it into the office to show Irene, where we noticed it had only three legs and one antenna. The stick insect was brown and Charlie said he found it on the garage roof.
Through this fascination for insects, Charlie and his friends are exploring ways to care for and protect the living world. They have added to their vocabulary words such as camofluage, antenna and habitat.

What insect or small creature will we learn about next?

A week after this posting, Tamara recorded children's conversation of the stick insect blog post.

I (Tamara) asked the children "what do you like about the stick insect?",
Eneri said, "I touched it".
Jasper said, "cool".
Charlie said, "I like all of it".
Isaac said, "I don't know".
Donnagh said, "I didn't touch it, I want to touch it,
no I don't".
Super recording of children's memories of the stick insect Tamara. Jessie
