KIDSPACE Christmas Party
Bring your family and friends and your picnic tea for our children's Christmas celebration.
Old fashioned races, egg (potato) and spoon, sack races and for those who came last year you will now know to bring a change of clothes if you're taking part in the jockeys and horses race! Our special Christmas fairy and friends will be giving out the children's Christmas presents. Please bring $8 to KIDSPACE to contribute towards the cost of the present. The teachers will buy and wrap the KIDSPACE children's presents. You are welcome to add your own presents for siblings. For the details on when and where click on this video of the children's invitation.
Sharing time with our little friends
Rionagh was sitting outside on the grass, feeling the texture and moving her feet around as the grass was quite long. This was great for her senses, feeling the soft grass all over her feet. Rionagh also had some time on her tumming and back rolling around. Eneri joined in and talked to his friend commenting on what she was doing, she was splashing her hands in the bowl of water, Eneri went and got more water for her once she tipped it all out. Eneri is so gentle and kind to Rionagh and will often find her during the day and have a little chat and play. This is where the mixed age setting is really nice for siblings and family friends to be able to be together, learn and interact with each other.

Reading stories together
Ben wanted me to read 'The Little Yellow Digger', Taylah and Max joined in. Max liked to point at lots of the pictures on the pages particularly the dog and all the different diggers that got stuck, he talked lots as he pointed to the pictures. Ben asked lots of questions about what the diggers were doing and actively inquiring. Taylah just enjoyed watching and listening to Max, Ben and the story. Throughout this time as a group we all ended up listening to about three or four stories. It was a great time to share together and discover and be engaged in literacy.
In Te Whaariki it says "Children develop an expectation that words and books can amuse, delight, comfort, illuminate, inform, and excite;". Through the use of stories children can get used to different voices that teachers can make for different characters and really be engaged in the story and use their imagination.
